What do I know about football?
Fuck all it would seem

I'm to pissed and tied to trawl through threads and threads and I see armchairs like Alfs giving it the big un already.

We'll never know what would have happened had we sent a first team to Romania in the week, what anyone says is only guess work and conjecture.

But that's in the past

Bilic sent out his first team today, still not 100% mind and they wiped the floor with these Arsenal mugs who believed they only had to turn up to win and take the advantage in the PL race but "winning the league" at Wembley was so last week.

We showed our fucking class, we showed our fucking quality and we played some delightful football which was a pleasure to cheer and to witness.

11 hero's and even Jarvo, Nolan and Maiga played their own little parts.

For my money? Adrian was man of the match, some important and brilliant keeping.

Outfield Ogbonna who loads had written off after 10 minutes was superb, the rest of the defence alongside him like wise.

In Midfield Captain Noble was excellent and led by example, in Payet we really have something special on our hands and Oxford played with ability, courage and sense well beyond the age of a 16 year old.

Big Kouyate set us on our way, Sakho worked his bollocks off and never let then settle on the ball at the back as they like to do and Zarate scored a great goal and teased them into virtual surrender.

So Mr Bilic, maybe I was wrong, maybe not, we'll never know but lets have plenty more of what you dished up today please.

One very impressed and tied Hammer.

Not sure about all the 'great post roe' comments, unless I'm missing something it's no different to what's been said over a 100 times on other threads?

I meant Oxford played like the game was in slow motion. Had so much time was untrue. I wasn't slagging him off for being slow.

Ogbonna was class by the way. Oxford played like he was in slow motion. Was just a pleasure to watch.

I think a striker is an absolute must. I know Zarate scored but I am not entirely convinced he is an out and out striker. Will be too much reliance on Sakho without another striker but good to see Caroll may not be too far away.

Would still like to see us sign Song too. Hopefully his injury won't take too long to get over.

Great post sums it up perfectly.

I missed it yesterday but recorded it for when I got home. Was absolutely stunned by the performance if I am being honest. Bilic didn't seem happy with the first half whereas I actually thought it was pretty good so that's a plus, having a Manager who isn't actually happy going in at half time 1-0 up at the Emirates!!

The massive difference was ball retention, patience and common sense rather than hoofing it away all the time and it just comes back ala Allardyce! Two examples stood out for me. Zarate winning a throw in off an Arsenal player when he looked like just walloping it down the line and Payet's fine break late on when some players would have tried to thread a ball through an eye of a needle straight into the keepers hands, whereas he just spotted it wasn't on as a pass, backed off and kept possession.

We actually showed we can pass a football around and defended the centre magnificently. Arsenal missed a trick though not stretching us out wide but that's down to them to break us down.

My only concerns were the substitutions however Bilic probably felt Tmkins needed pacier cover hence the introduction of Jarvis and also pace on the counter attack and Jarvis is quicker than Zarate. You can't run a 16 year old into the ground so hence the Nolan change and Sakho had run his legs off so hence Maiga coming on, but this is the area we need to strengthen as those three coming on aren't good enough.

Still think we need another striker though. Yes he scored but I think Zarate is a bit light weight. Maybe add a fit Song to that midfield also and that would be fantastic and I do pray Adrian doesn't get injured as I don't think Randolph cuts it.

Also maybe just a quiet word with Sakho and Zarate about looking up. Both had good chances to slip the ball to someone else but were a tad selfish, but I guess I am nit picking there.

Great performance though. Reid and Ogbonna were solid, Adrian a colossus, Tomkins did ok in an unfamiliar role, Payet oozes class, Sakho never stops running and Oxford, well he shut Graeme Souness right up.

Now let's carry it on.

Cheers Russ.

Still disappointed regarding Europa but its gone now. After being there yesterday i can most definitely forgive Mr Bilic, we just need to now not get too carried away and kick on. Two signings before end of the month and the optimism that was there a couple of weeks back returns.

Good post.

I would like to say that whilst we both diagreed last week on the Bilic team for the Euro qualifier you still had a very justified reason for your views.

Yesterday was pure class. Adrian, Payet, OXFORD. We fucked the Arsenal again. In their own back yard.

In Bilic WE trust.

Re: What do I know about football?
I expected an Arsenal victory except for the fact that the stats show they are not the best of Premiership starters in recent seasons.

Possession is one thing, as endlessly discussed on here, but Arsenal actually had very few shots on target and no real golden chance. It looked like Arsenal could not cope with the energy of our players.

You could have posted this on a number of other threads that were already up but you chose to start your own thread because you are a self absorbed supporter desperate for attention on here.

Re: What do I know about football?
Nice one Rossal.

On the Jarvis thing I saw Zarate get into Bilic's coach's ears about why he was taken off. Couldn't see the reply but I'm sure it would have been because Jarvis is a better defender and Tomkins needed help.

Was also surprised to see how well Nolan did coming on with fresh legs when everyone else was tiring and actually looking like he is a footballer after all.

Was completely amazed that Bilic brought Maiga on. I was thinking here goes.... but no. He put himself about for a few minutes and even got a shot away. It made me think that this was good management in trying to boost Maiga's confidence and show him that he has a part to play. Either that or Bilic hoping that giving him game time will encourage someone to take a punt on him...

Re: What do I know about football?
What a performance. What a day. One of the best away days i have had.

I, like Croe was livid after thursday and had big questions over Bilic's decisions and outlook.

How wrong was i, i said he had to deliver after throwing away the europa and boy did he. We was superb yesterday, yes Arsenal were not 100% but we deserve alot of credit.

Adrian was outstanding, i have always said he is good enough and yesterday proved that in bucket loads. A great shot stopper and the fact his family were just below us in the stand made it very enjoyable to see how much it meant to them too.

Defence was very solid, Ogbonna in particular i was very impressed with. Strong, composed and read the game excellently, Giroud was taken out of the game by him. Thought Cresswell could of got forward a bit more, and thought Tomkins played well in a unfamiliar role.

Midfield, Oxford was brilliant, what a performance to do that at 16. A world cup winner in his pocket all game......who needs Song ay. Noble and Kouyate energy and ability to break up play caused them alot of frustration and for them to start forcing it which is when the loose passes started to happen. Payet we all know is special now, I was skeptical when we signed him. I was wrong, on what he has shown so far he looks like he could be one of the signings of the season. Keep him fit and he will put chances on a plate for our front players.

Sakho was the unsung hero yesterday, he didnt stop running, putting thier back four under pressure and being a outlet to allow us to move up the pitch when they were searching for a goal back at 2-0. Again keep him fit and he will get 10+ goals this year no doubt about it.

What was very nice to see too was a manager look a game and have tactics to approach it correctly. Credit to Bilic, the Jarvis change was a reaction to the game so far and was good tactics, so refreshing to see.

Finally the fans, i have always said we will never have the best team in the world but we are one of the best clubs to support. The reaction when the players walked over to clap the team off was outstanding, every single person in that away end was a credit to the club.

A great day, an even better result and a huge hats off to Mr Bilic and the players.

2 big games next, which could put us in a good position to really kick on.
